The FAMU-FSU College of Engineering was established in 1982 and is the only shared engineering college in the nation. The facilities were remodelled in 2011. It is located less than three miles from both FSU and FAMU campuses. College of Engineering students at both FAMU and FSU learn together at the joint College of Engineering building after taking prerequisites.

Although the main book collections for engineering are housed in the Dirac and Coleman libraries respectively, the College of Engineering Library is supported by both FAMU and FSU collections and acts as a library for both institutions. It also provides students with study areas and computers. Course reserves and materials directly related to instruction are held in the College of Engineering Library.
